Ramiz Bajwa graduated from All Saints University School of Medicine in Dominica before embarking on a career as the owner-operator of Poke Bar in San Francisco. Outside of work, Ramiz Bajwa plays several sports and enjoys traveling, camping, and motocross racing.
Motorcycle racing dates back to the mid-19th century. The first motorcycle was invented in the early 1860s, and racing motorized bikes soon became a popular pastime.
The evolution of motocross began in the spring of 1906 when the UK Auto-Cycle Club hosted the first motorcycle time trials on a designated course. In the 1920s, the trials developed into weekly races called "scrambles," which had racers competing for various titles.
Eventually, this new sport of motorcycle racing was named "motocross," a word that combined the French "motocyclette" with "cross country.” Motocross gained a following in the United States by the early 1960s, but the sport caught on in 1970s.
Today, motocross is one of the most popular motorsports in the world. Several major motocross competitions are held annually, including the FIM Motocross World Championship, the AMA Motocross Championship, and the British Motocross Championship.
